After that afternoon of watching the stunning amber sunset by the beach, my condition sadly got worse.
The Boy had to call the emergency hotel doctor. He gave me an injection and several packs of antibiotics to try and get me better ASAP.
Two days on, I was feeling much stronger and my appetite started to come back – When I was ill, I was only able to manage half a bowl of plain bubur ayam (chicken congee/rice porridge) for an entire day! You guys know how much I LOVE my food!
I honestly have never felt so ill in my entire life, no exaggeration!
What made matters worse was the fact that I had to miss two days of sun worshiping, pigging out and exploring paradise!
So, on the third day, the day that I started to feel my taste buds tingling again and my belly slowly making its presence known by growling, I gathered all the strength I had (which was hardly any from not eating properly) and got dressed for a day in the sun.
Venue of choice? Rock Bar at Ayana Resort and Spa in Jimbaran.
Eager to refuel my energy as soon as possible, we ordered some nibbles the second we were seated. We went for…
Chicken popcorn with herb-infused olive oil and spiced dukkah (an Egyptian spice blend of nuts, herbs and spices)
Beef chorizo corn dogs with sun-dried tomato hollandaise
Crispy taquitos with edamame “Rockamole”
Crispy Calamari with spicy tomato sauce
As the sun started to cool itself off and began to slowly set, people began closing their umbrellas to reveal the magnificent view that we’ve been hiding away from…
Oh yes, we watched and witnessed yet another beautiful sunset!
Nothing better to shoo away the illness – happy mind, happy heart, happy body.
Bye sun! See you tomorrow!
Keen to make this moment last longer (and also to make up for lost time), we stayed at the Bar for longer.
At dusk, the atmoshpere at Rock Bar changes and turns into a romantic setting for a date or a laid-back cocktail and nibbles affair with chums…
The DJ for the eve sets up at their booth on a giant rock and play perfect tunes to further set the chilled-out vibe…
Isn’t this just so romantic?
Suddenly, the music stopped and a group of fire dancers came out one-by-one and performed on the stage…This seriously brought me back to my wedding reception!
It goes without saying that we ordered more food as it was time for dindins…This time, we ordered…
California Maki with spiced pineapple and marinated tuna
Prawn spring rolls with chilli sauce
Potato wedges, curly fries and pita chips with hummus, curry mayonnaise and ketchup
Rice noodle summer rolls with mango, mint and plum sauce
Yum yum in my tum!We wanted to celebrate the fact that I was getting better and that I was able to enjoy our holiday again after being absent for what seemed like forever.
…And it looked like Ayana Resort heard the news (or so I imagined) and wanted to join in the celebration too!
Thank you Rock Bar and Ayana Resorts for throwing awesome surprises throughout our visit and ending my first day back with a bang!
You guys ROCK!
All my ♥,
