Date night with the boy is the best kind of night. It is a chance for us to dress up, get out of the apartment, and enjoy each other’s company over some good food and a few drinkiepoos. As we are based in the Docklands area and did not fancy venturing into Central, we decided to go to PLATEAU for our dinner date. This is a restaurant that I had been wanting to try ever since we moved to London – I’m not going to lie, I was totally excited!
We headed over to the Bar for a pre-dinner drink and snack. The boy ordered a rather boring drink, beer, while I opted for one of their cocktails, Red Diamond. Our order came with two glasses of still water, one glass served with a slice of lemon and the other was served with pieces of cranberries inside the tumbler – loved this touch of chicness! Our drinks were also served with some nibbles of olives and mixed nuts.
The Red Diamond cocktail – Fair Quinoa vodka, fresh strawberry, mint, fresh organic apple juice and honey syrup.
For starters, I ordered the Celeriac Soup, Chives and Croutons and the boy ordered their Bocconcini of Mozzarella with Rocket Salad and Air Dried Ham
Our mains consisted of Braised Daube of Beef with Wholegrain Mustard Mash and Secrett’s Carrots for the Mr. and pour moi, their Grilled Beam and Curried Potage of Mussels
The boy had the Traditional Tart of the Day for his dessert – a rich pecan pie served with vanilla ice-cream. I chose a more refreshing dessert of House-made Fruit Sorbet Selection.
Verdict – One of the loveliest cocktails I have ever tasted, seriously delicious food with satisfactory portions and a supremely friendly and personal service from the Staff members. PLATEAU was everything I imagined it to be – sophisticated, chic and satisfying.
