After a frightening and rocky boat trip that was rockier than a tub of Rocky Road, we arrived at Lembongan Island.
Clear blue water that goes on for miles accompanied by white soft sandy beaches make this island a beach-bum heaven!
First task was to look for a mode of transport as we wanted to have a quick drive around the small island…
We were keen on hiring buggies and ridin’ dur-teh like kool kids BUT after spending way too long haggling and trying to lower the ridiculously high rent charge, we gave up.
Instead, we hired something way more cooler and luxurious instead…Oh yeahhhhhhh, you saw right, a top of the range islanders’ pick-up truck!
Jealous? I bet you are!We quickly sat ourselves down and got into a comfortable position a.k.a making sure all bags, phones, cameras are all safe and won’t fall out of this sexy beast.
Holding on real tight to the sides of the truck, we were ready to go.
Bumpy island ride, WE ARE GO!It started to look like we were starting a convoy of some sort…But then we realised that these kids just finished school and were on their way home on their motorbikes.
First stop, the mangrove forest…
Sadly, we didn’t have time to go inside the mangrove forest.
But if we did, I would’ve loved to go and have a look!
You have to hire a canoe and paddle through the river inside the forest – how serene does that sound?!
Instead, we made a quick stop to take some snappy-snaps before we head over to our next photo-opp stop…
TA-DAAAAAA…If this isn’t the perfect panorama point, I don’t know what is!
Thank you road sign for the smiley pointer!
Back on the road we go…I wonder why they cover these tombstones with umbrellas?
We drove past a seaweed farm…
This bridge connects Lembongan Island with Ceningan Island.
I was told that this island is more for residential and business purposes and not really served for tourists.
So, we decided to leave the islanders in peace and make a move to our final stop.
“Welcome to Dream Beach”…
A dream beach it is too…
Before braving the waves, our tummies were crying out for some grub.
Luckily, there was a resto right by the beach!
Unfortunately, this was the only thing that was great about the restaurant.
I didn’t even bother taking any photos of the food as they were absolutely uninviting, the food quality was poor, it did not taste great, service was shamefully bad and we were charged with overpriced food and drinks! It was an all-round bad lunch experience!
We quickly munched on our bland food, stomped our way out of the resto and marched down the sandy steps in search of some solace from the sun and sea…
Man oh man, I could honestly look at this view forever…
And of course, when at the beach, one obviously must take the obligatory #beachselfie with one’s new holiday gadget #selfiestick with one’s friends.
All my ♥,
